Custom Fish Tank Lids

Apart from ensuring your fishes’ health, keeping your aquatic inhabitants safe is one important aspect in fishkeeping. Certain species of fishes tend to jump out of tanks, most often injuring themselves and even end up getting killed when left for long out of the water. Most of these fishes are the known insect eaters who constantly jump out of the water surface to catch insects for food. Custom fish tank lids are the easiest way to keep your fishes inside your tank.

This practical solution also serves a lot of purposes. Aside from keeping your tank lights from getting wet, custom fish tank lids help prevent water evaporation and maintain water temperature. It is also a good way to keep the dust from getting in your aquarium water. Keeping the dirt out helps your water from getting dirty easily and reduce the frequency of water cleaning schedule. It is also important in keeping your fishes and water safe from household spray chemicals. Debris from air fresheners and mosquito sprays could fall into your water and pollute it. Another problem is when you have kids around. They love to throw things and food in the tank water and dig their hands inside to get them. That is dangerous for your kids if their hands get into the equipments’ electrical cords and at the same time stressful for your fishes when they get stirred up. Food debris could cause your water to get cloudy and your fish to get sick.

There are different choices for custom fish tank lids. Glass lids provide a more proper fitting and tighter cover. Among other lid materials, glass is so much better in preventing evaporation. It also allows light to enter the tank when needed. On top of its decent and elegant appearance, glass tank lids are easy to clean. Though and expensive choice, it is more preferred by most fish tank owners because of its many advantages. The risk for breaking is the only common complain people have on using this kind of lid. Plastic lids or hoods also make good aquarium tops. They cost less, weigh less and they do not accidentally break. They could come in a lot of great designs too. Hoods are designed to allow lighting fixtures to sit on it and have holes small enough for the heater and filter cords to pass through, but never too big to encourage fishes to jump to the visible opening. A less common option for fish tank lid is wood because of its price. Cheaper alternatives for preventing fishes from throwing themselves out of the tank are steel screen wires or nets. They serve the same purpose and are most affordable but could allow much of the water to evaporate. Others opt to use obstacles like floating plants or decors but do not really provide much protection as custom fish tank lids.

Fishes are worth keeping. But it takes more than a tank, water and equipments to set up an aquarium display. Many things are to be taken into consideration to make sure you can get the most of your aquatic experience. Custom fish tank lids ensure your fishes’ safety as well as your tanks’ and allow you to have a rewarding fish keeping experience.
