Queen Angelfish Price

For many aquarists, the Queen angelfish is considered one of the most beautiful fishes in the reef and with its beauty, would be great to own. Normally found in warmer marine water in the tropical and subtropical regions, these brightly colored reef inhabitants are among the large sized species within its genus. Its beautifully blended yellow and blue coloration makes it glow and stand out in any aquarium setting. They oftentimes show variations in their color and markings. As they become adults, they turn somewhat greenish-blue or greenish-yellow. Queen angelfishes are territorial and aggressive. Their intolerance to water condition changes and difficulty in feeding makes the unsuitable for beginning aquarists to keep. They are also prone to icks, flukes and certain fish conditions. Since these species could grow up to 15”, they require a bigger tank, and more maintenance cost. With the many downsides involved in keeping a queen angelfish, it is still very much sought for because of its outstanding beauty and attractiveness. Its ornamental quality makes it very recognizable in the marine aquarium hobby.

Definitely an expensive fish, they are sold according to their sizes and could cost around $50 to a couple of hundred dollars. Showcase sizes would cost close to $500 but because of their unique physical qualities, are found to have high demands for in the market. Their being active and lively, spending most of their time out in the open, makes them quality fishes for display shows. Queen angelfishes around 1.5 – 3” are considered small in size and are priced at $50 to $85. Smaller ones could cost a little less. The 2 – 4” queen angelfishes are considered medium and are sold between $80 to $120. When their sizes reach 4 -5”, they are categorized as large and could costs around $150. Between 5 – 7” are extra large in category and costs $250. When they reach 7 – 10”, they could qualify for show sizes, but are definitely more expensive at  $349. A queen angelfish is quite a showy and bold aquarium inhabitant, very much a beautiful fish to showcase your reef tank with. Aquariums are known to bring appeal to your living space. Something unique like a queen angelfish could bring the exotic and sophisticated feel and look to your tank. May be a pricey fish, but is sure worth investing in.
